TWELVE months ago Geoff Wragg was preparing Pentire for a crack at the £4 million Dubai World Cup but this time around his attentions will be focused at Leicester where he saddles Moonshiner in the opening maiden today.

Moonshiner had only three starts at two. Very burly on his debut, the son of Cheveley Park and Sussex Stakes heroine Marling showed improvement next time at Goodwood.

Always prominent, Wragg's charge took over with two furlongs to travel but was soon headed and outpaced by Bachelor's Pad, in the end finishing a three and a half length second with another two and a half back to the third.

The Irish River colt put up another decent effort next time in a good-class event at York when chasing home the useful Wolf Mountain. Again taking up the running at the two-furlong pole, Moonshiner kept on when headed but was two and a half lengths adrift at the line.
