Kildare SFC Final/Moorefield 0-10 Allenwood 0-9: Newbridge side Moorefield collected their first county title since 2002 with a single-point victory over Allenwood in a poor game at Newbridge yesterday.
Kildare player Johnny Doyle was one Allenwood's best and he opened their account inside the first minute.
Moorefield responded quickly when Ronan Sweeney, another Kildare regular, levelled and Phil Woulfe converted a free.
Moorefield pulled clear in the second quarter with successive points from Paddy Murray and another Sweeney point.
Two Adrian McAndrew points cut Moorefield's lead to 0-7 to 0-5 at the interval.
Allenwood continued to improve in the second half and the outstanding McAndrew hit three on the trot without reply.
Sweeney had a penalty saved late on but neither he nor the winners were rattled and he got Moorefield's next score, which proved decisive.
