European Tour Qualifying School: One more solid round today should see Colm Moriarty through to next week's final stage of the European Tour Qualifying School, but Philip Walton and Stephen Browne have work to do if they are to book their place for San Roque.
Moriarty yesterday shot a third-round two-under-par 70 at Sherry Golf in Spain to be four under overall and in a share of 12th place at the venue, where the top 19 will qualify tonight.
But at Emporda Golf Club, where the top 20 go through, Walton and Browne shot one-over-par 71s to slip to a share of 28th, and they will need to go low today.
For the nine other Irish competitors, qualification this year looks beyond them.
Scott Henderson (37), the Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year in 1997, rekindled memories of almost a decade ago when he fired a six-under-par 66 at Costa Ballena Club de Golf to share the lead with Kieran Stanton of England.
Finland's Roope Kakko leads by two shots at PGA Golf de Catalunya on 200, 13 under par, after a third round 65, while England's Simon Lilly also carded a third-round 65 at Emporda, for a nine under par total of 201 and a one-shot lead.
