Challenge Tour: Colm Moriarty took a significant step towards winning his 2008 European Tour card with a third place finish at the Challenge Tour's Rolex Trophy today.
The 28-year-old from Athlone, who won his first Challenge Tour event in Wales four weeks ago, won €10,200 after a final round of two under par 70 gave him a 14-under-par 274 total.
That left him trailing the winner Robert Dinwiddie, by four strokes, but enabled the Irishman to climb a further eight places on the Challenge Tour Rankings, from 31st to 23rd spot.
Moriarty needs to finish in the top 20 to secure full playing rights for The European Tour next season.
Dinwiddie's victory came courtesy of a stunning final round 64 that saw him take the title by three strokes from Ross McGowan and secure a second victory in as many weeks following his breakthrough win at the Scottish Challenge presented by Bank of Scotland Corporate.
While Moriarty was taking third place in Switzerland, Antrim's Gareth Maybin finished tied fourth at the Lexus Open in Norway, the Challenge Tour's second event of the weekend.
The Northern Irishman began the final round one off the pace but a one over 73 saw him fall down the leaderboard to finish in fourth place.
Austria's Martin Wiegele took the title after a sudden-death play-off with Scotsman George Murray.
