Schools Rugby/Leinster Junior Cup: ST Mary's College 13 Newbridge College 13:It will take another day to separate these two sides after a classic first-round tie at Donnybrook yesterday. From the start, Newbridge played with direct intensity. Full-back Gary Burns electrified the crowd with a try from deep inside his own half in the fourth minute. Stand-off Conor Browne converted.
Then from a lineout St Mary's centre Killian Traynor took a straight line from Eoin Moriarty's flat pass to make the line. Full-back David O'Halloran eased the Rathmines boys into the lead with a simple penalty only for a similar effort from Browne to make it 10-8 at the break.
Newbridge's Browne struck his second penalty from 30 metres in the 41st minute. Thereafter St Mary's applied all the pressure and the equalising try arrived in the 56th minute when Moriarty went over.
