Munster Schools Senior Cup:Castletroy College15 Rockwell College11 DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Castletroy College advanced to the semi-finals of the Munster Schools' Senior Cup as Darren Moroney inspired a hard-fought victory against Rockwell College in Clonmel yesterday.
Two Paul McEvoy penalties opened up a 6-0 interval lead for Rockwell but Moroney crashed over for the game’s opening try two minutes after the restart and then converted Castletroy’s second try, which was scored by Pádraig O’Connor after 43 minutes.
Inspirational Rockwell captain Paddy Butler bundled his way over seven minutes from time to give his side hope but McEvoy’s missed conversion proved costly as Castletroy held onto a 12-11 lead.
Four minutes from time, Moroney converted a penalty as the Limerick outfit moved four points clear and held out comfortably to the finish.
