LEINSTER COLLEGES SFC A: St Mary's, Edenderry 2-18 St Mary's CBS, Carlow 1-3:ST MARY'S, Carlow made a dream start with a penalty goal from Graham Delaney inside the first minute in Edenderry yesterday but this was as good as it got for them.

Their namesakes from Edenderry were in scintillating form as they booked their passage to the third round with a comprehensive and well-deserved win. The Offaly school recovered from that bad start with a goal from Harry Morrin and they more or less did as they wished after.

By half-time, they were well on the way to victory with a 1-9 to 1-2 lead and they continued to drive home their superiority in the second half. Daniel Flynn and Daniel Grehan laid the foundations by dominating at midfield and Seán Haslim, Cathal Nolan, Harry Morrin and Ciarán Hurley all scored freely in the attack.

Substitute Dean Cummins netted a late goal for the Edenderry students, while another substitute, Conor Murphy, got St Mary’s, Carlow’s only second-half point, in injury-time.
