Wexford 1-29 DIT 2-19 (After extra-time):A splendid Paul Morris goal helped Wexford overcome DIT after extra-time in an entertaining Walsh Cup clash at Blackwater yesterday.

Wexford led 0-4 to 0-0 inside seven minutes, but it was the accuracy of Kilkenny’s underage player Michael Moloney that hauled DIT back into the game with the sides going in level 0-8 each at the break.

Wexford were leading 0-14 to 0-13 when they had Michael O’Regan sent off on a second yellow card. DIT got goals from a Moloney free after 60 minutes and Conor McCormack one minute later to ease into a 2-14 to 0-16 lead.

Gary Moore (who finished with 12 points) pointed a free to force extra-time as the sides finished level, 0-21 to 2-15.

Kehoe, Moore and Morris fired excellent points to help the home side lead 0-26 to 2-17 at the end of the first period of extra-time before Morris’s goal finally ended the hopes of the battling visitors.
