ST GERARD'S COLLEGE 20; WESLEY COLLEGE 8: There flamboyant tries from the St Gerard's College backs left Wesley College too much to do against the wind in the last quarter of this first-round match.
The first try came after five minutes from outhalf Alan Power, who ran 30 metres along the touchline, after an equally long break by full back Robbie Morrison.
Morrison followed up with a penalty three minutes later and St Gerard's held their ground until just before half-time when Seán O'Neill converted a penalty for Wesley.
Two minutes into the second half Wesley equalled scores with a try from Ian Slattery. However, centre Riain McMahon-Trench and Morrison combined well to score a try apiece to put St Gerard's well out of reach.
