Connacht League - Mayo 1-6 Leitrim 0-3: Mayo comfortably beat Leitrim in the Connacht FBD League at Charlestown yesterday in a dull game before 400 supporters.
Mayo led by 0-4 to 0-1 at the interval thanks to two points from frees by Conor Mortimer and one each from David Tiernan and James Gill. Leitrim had a chance to take the lead earlier in the half but Jimmy Holohan's penalty kick hit the bottom of the post.
Nine minutes into the second half a quick counter-attack saw Mayo split the Leitrim defence and Aidan Higgins was instrumental in placing Conor Mortimer for a superb goal.
