MOUNT TEMPLE held off the challenge of a determined Kills side at Drogheda to advance to the third round of the Junior Cup.
With only two minutes on the clock, Mount Temple's Alan Lordan scored under the posts, converting himself.
However, the rest of the half belonged to Kells, who camped in their opponents half for long periods without making the breakthrough.
Mount Temple increased their lead 13 minutes after the break, when good pressure from Lordan, forced a mistake, allowing Joe FitzAcher to go over in the corner. Two minutes later, a quickly taken Kells penalty from Aidan McEntee resulted in Paddy Began setting up Ciaran Hanlon to burst across the line. David Bracknell, who had earlier landed a penalty, converted, leaving just two points between the teams and setting up a tense finish. However, his side were unable to breach the strong Mount Temple defence.
