The Irish Amateur Boxing Association took a major step at the weekend to bring to an end a long standing dispute between the board of Trustees and the main body of the association represented by the Central Council.

Last Saturday's meeting of the Central Council, put forward three resolutions to the annual general meeting which will amalgamate the affairs of the Trustees and those of the Ringside Social Club under the umbrella of the Central Council.

A new deed of trust has been drawn up by the association's legal advisers which will have the effect of putting the annually elected Central Council in complete control of the National Stadium itself, the Ringside Club which is an annex to the stadium and the new gym, once the gun-room attached to Griffith Barracks which was bought by the IABA and fully equipped as a gymnasium.

In effect these motions, if passed, will put all matters under the overall control of the Central Council. It is understood that a new board of Trustees (maximum eight) will now be elected at the annual convention later in the year.
