The prospect of Séamus Moynihan taking some part in Sunday week's All-Ireland football final looks bright after the Kerry back made his long-awaited return to a full training session last Friday night.

Although it is likely Moynihan will only take a place on the bench for that final against Mayo, he would be regarded as a great option for Jack O'Connor as an impact substitution.

Kerry chairman Séan Walsh confirmed Moynihan's return: "Séamus trained on Friday evening in Killarney and then took part in a game as an extra man without marking anyone.

"He looks on course to take his place on the bench but it will all depend on nothing going wrong between now and Sunday week."
