Muakaad set for France

Muakaad is likely to represent Dermot Weld in Sunday's Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly

Muakaad is likely to represent Dermot Weld in Sunday's Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly. The Curragh trainer said last night: "A final decision will be taken in the morning but the colt is a likely runner in the French Derby."

Weld's previous French Derby runner was Casey Tibbs in the mid-1990s and Muakaad will fly the Irish flag at Chantilly along with the Aidan O'Brien trained Ciro.

"Muakaad likes fast ground and it looks like being nice going in France with some hot days forecast," Weld said.

Aidan O'Brien indicated yesterday that Shakespeare is likely to accompany Aristotle in the Epsom Derby but the Ballydoyle trainer is unlikely to be represented in the Epsom Oaks.
