BRIAN MULLINS, the Derry manager, has been suspended for two months following a flare up at the end of a recent club minor championship match.
Mullins's team, Carndonagh, and Naomh Padraig from Muff were the teams involved and Mullins was acting as a linesman. Naomh Padraig were well in control with only minutes left when Mull ins disagreed with the decision of umpire Bernard McColgan.
Blows were exchanged and a free for all resulted, during which Mullins got a split lip needing four stitches. The match was abandoned by referee Austin Wallace and later awarded to Naomh Padraig, who were comfortably ahead before the abrupt ending.
The game was in the Innishowen minor championship but as adults were involved, it was the Donegal disciplinary committee which dealt with the punch up.
Mullins and McColgan, a former champion boxer, were both suspended for two months. The suspension will end later in September.
. Pat King was chosen as Fermanagh's football team manager at last night's county board meeting. He succeeds Terry Ferguson who resigned last month. The 47 year old schoolteacher played for Tyrone for more than a decade and is manager of top Fermanagh club Lisnaskea.
