The proposal to call in Colin Lynch for tonight's meeting was fully discussed and carried at the last full meeting of the Munster Council activities committee on 28th July at which all Munster counties were represented. In accordance with Rule 139 he was given seven days' notice and the option of a meeting earlier in the week on Tuesday if he so wished.

Tonight at 8 p.m. a letter was handed in from Colin Lynch saying he could not attend the meeting. No reason was given and he asked to be represented by James Nash. This was not allowed, as a player must be present for a personal hearing.

The Council was willing to explain to the chairman and secretary of the Clare County Board the reason why Mr Nash could not represent the player because he wasn't present himself. A request was made from Clare that a delegation of three people, the chairman and secretary of Clare County Board and the Clare team manager, be allowed in to explain the reason for Colin Lynch's absence.

The chairman of the Munster Council then met the chairman of the Clare County Board privately, but the chairman of the Clare County Board said he was not prepared to reveal the reason why Colin Lynch could not be present unless the three people above mentioned were present.

Council was then informed that the press had been informed of the reason for Colin Lynch's absence but that the Council would not be informed unless the three mentioned people were present.

Council then considered the case and a decision was reached but it is not being revealed tonight until the player himself is informed.

On the Gerald McCarthy case, Ger has received a severe warning as to his future conduct. He is asked to have a written apology to the match official and he is excluded from the pitch enclosure for the next championship game.

Finally, Kerry County Board were fined £600 for pitch incursions at the Munster football final.
