HOCKEY/U-21 Interprovincial Championship: Involving 13 survivors of Ireland's Junior World Cup squad, the under-21 Interprovincial Championship promises to provide a stimulating and bracing weekend at Harlequin Park, Cork.

The fact that Munster will be fielding seven junior internationals - including three in the senior training panel, Karl Burns, David Hobbs and John Jermyn - must make them favourites.

However, Leinster look very well equipped to defend the title with a lot of attacking verve, notably through Alan Giles and Peter McConnell.

Ulster, too, will demand respect with players of the calibre of Jonathan Quigley and Chris Barnes.
