DOWN SFC FINAL Burren 1-14 Bryansford 1-13:A POINT by Burren's star forward Seán Murdock three minutes from time gave them victory over a gallant Bryansford side in this pulsating Down SFC final in Páirc Esler Newry yesterday.

Burren just about deserved their victory. They had in Murdock the scoring star on view. He lobbed over nine of their points, five from frees.

Murdock got good support in attack from Eamon Toner and James McGovern. Philip Bonny, Luke Howard and Stephen Toner impressed in Bryansford’s defence while in attack Danny Savage, Kalum King and Chris McGovern worked hard.

After just 40 seconds Kalum King flicked a Joe Ireland lob to the net to open the Bryansford scoring. However almost immediately Burren half back Gerard McCartan raced through the static Ford defence to fire to the net.

Points from Chris and Ciarán Brannigan edged Bryansford ahead. But three points from Murdock (two frees) put Burren 1-7 to 1-5 ahead at the interval.

Savage, Conor Gribben and Chris Clarke put Bryansford ahead before Murdock levelled from a free. Bryansford struck a purple patch with three Savage points to lead by 1-13 to 1-11 with seven minutes remaining. But Burren fought back brilliantly, Declan Rooney and Kevin McKernan pointing to put them level before Murdock grabbed the winner.
