Dublin's first championship selection of the year introduces two debutants and sees the return of an old face to the squad. Vinny Murphy, who made his debut for the county 12 years ago, is back on the panel after a four-year absence in Kerry.

Senan Connell of All-Ireland club finalists Na Fianna is named on the right wing of the attack and Coman Goggins of Ballinteer St John's, something of a surprise choice given that he didn't feature in the National League campaign, will line out at left corner back.

Tom Carr's side is weakened by a number of injuries. Team captain Dessie Farrell is on the bench suffering from a hamstring injury, as is Colm Moran, who was expected to make his championship debut this weekend.

However, the side shows only three changes from the team which lost last year's Leinster final to Meath. Keith Galvin, who is amongst the substitutes, Paddy Moran, who has retired, and Paul Croft drop off the team to be replaced by Goggins, Connell and Shane Ryan, who only recently withdrew from the county hurling panel.

The front eight are the same as for last year's Leinster final, with Brian Stynes named at centre forward and Enda Sheehy at centrefield the only positional changes.

After a League campaign which suggested that Jonathan McGee might an Whelan play at centrefield, the Kilmacud player reverts to centre back where he started against Meath 10 months ago.

Peadar Andrews, who endured a torrid afternoon at corner back in the company of Ollie Murphy that day is named on the wing where he has played well this season.
