Scott Murray, the Scotland lock forward, has been suspended for three weeks after being found to have committed the offence of recklessly kicking an opponent in the Six Nations match between Wales and Scotland last Sunday.
The three-man independent disciplinary Committee comprising Ireland's Dr Barry O'Driscoll, Peter Boyle, and chairman Paul Mauriac of France, viewed video footage of the incident and listened to representations from the player, his legal adviser and Frank Hadden, the Scotland coach.
The suspension commenced on Monday, February 13th, which leaves him free to resume playing on Monday, March 6th. As a lineout specialist, that gives the lock five days to get into shape for Scotland's Six Nations match against Ireland at Lansdowne Road on March 11th. The player has 48 hours from receipt of the written judgment within which to lodge an appeal.
