John Murtagh was yesterday quick to clarify any question about who will be booking his rides next year after Ray Cochrane's TV statement that he will be Murtagh's agent in Britain, writes Brian O'Connor.

Cochrane, who is Frankie Dettori's agent, made the announcement on BBC's sports review of the year, but Murtagh said yesterday: "I asked Ray if Frankie had a choice in a race he might put my name forward for the one Frankie doesn't want to ride. But Eddie Byrne is my agent and will continue to book all my rides next year. Eddie is not only my agent but also a good friend."

Meanwhile, wet weather continues to cause havoc with racing's fixture list. Yesterday's meetings at Plumpton and Wetherby were washed out on Sunday while Hereford today and Bangor tomorrow were both called off yesterday morning.

And prospects for racing taking place at Towcester on Thursday have been described as "gloomy".
