Ted Walsh was Ireland's leading amateur jockey for almost 20 years, winning the Irish amateur championship title a record 11 times between 1972 and 1984. He rode over 550 winners including four at the Cheltenham festival - on Castleruddery and Prolan in two successive Kim Muir Chases, on Hilly Way in the 1979 Queen Mother Chase and on Attitude Adjuster in 1986.

In 1991, Walsh took over the stables of his trainer father, Ruby Walsh, in Kill, Co Kildare, which had been in the family all his life. He also continues to be a leading TV commentator on jump racing.

Membership: We have a small string of horses at the moment, about 15 or 16. It's a fair mixture, but they are mostly jumpers and we have very few flat runners at the moment. Obviously some of those horses could be dual purpose in that they could run on the flat as well.

Status: Coming up to Christmas is the time of year when most people would like to win races, especially at Leopardstown, and after that there's plenty of good cards at Punchestown, Fairyhouse and of course Cheltenham, so we're hoping to be able to contest those races and hopefully win some as well.

Honours: Commanche Court won the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham two years ago and our young horses like Papillon won at the Ladbroke Chase there last year and was second in the Irish National. We have a good young novice called Rince Ri and another horse Total Success was a good handicapper last year winning five or six races

Finest Hour: Commanche Court was heads above all the wins so far in that we didn't really expect it. I was pleasantly surprised although we were all hoping he would run well.

Worst Moment: We all have our bad days at the races when things don't go according to plan but you just put them all behind you.

Club Hero: Tom Whitikar from England has been with me for the last couple of years and is a very good assistant trainer and very much part of it all.

Greatest Rivals: There's no real rivalry because everyday you go out to try and beat the opposition and I'd be hoping to win the best races I can with my horses. And in every race you'd have five or six that you'd have to beat and not just any particular one.
