Premier Division
Tomorrow
Cork City v Shamrock Rovers (Turner's Cross, 2.0)
Captain Declan Daly remains sidelined for Cork with a stomach/pelvic strain.
With Stephen Napier available again having missed Wednesday's 0-0 draw at UCD due to a suspension, manager Derek Mountfield must decide on a reshuffle in defence with Belfield debutant Damien O'Rourke likely to drop to the bench. Meanwhile, right-back Neal Horgan, out since midNovember, needs an operation on a knee.
"We haven't done too well in Cork for a while," says Shamrock Rovers manager Damien Richardson, "but these are the type of games I like to be involved in and hopefully we can overcome the disappointment of losing to Shelbourne."
Jason Colwell returns in midfield for Rovers, but Marc Kenny is still sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Last two seasons: 1999/2000: Shamrock Rovers 3 Cork City 1, Cork City 2 Shamrock Rovers 0, Shamrock Rovers 1 Cork City 2; 2000/2001: Shamrock Rovers 4 Cork City 1.
Current league form: Cork City: DLDWD; Shamrock Rovers: WDDWL. Leading league scorers: Cork City: Morley 6; Shamrock Rovers: Francis 5. Referee: J O'Neill (Waterford). Betting: Home: 6/4; raw: 11/5; away: 6/4
Shelbourne v Galway United (Tolka Park, 1.30, re-arranged from tonight)
Shelbourne have captain Pat Scully, midfielder Pat Fenlon and leading scorer Richie Foran back after one-match suspensions and all are likely to come straight back into the side.
Manager Dermot Keely was pleased with his central midfield pair of Paul Doolin and Jim Crawford in Wednesday's win over Shamrock Rovers. But Crawford picked up a slight hamstring strain and, along with striker Stephen Geoghegan (also hamstring), is doubtful.
"We must stay focused," says Keely. "We had a good win over Rovers but three points against Galway is the same as three points against anyone else."
Galway enjoy their tussles with the champions, and haven't lost to Shelbourne in the league since returning to the Premier Division last season.
Central defender Tom Silke is their only injury doubt, so Tom Burke looks set to return to partner Billy Clery.
Kieran Foley is due to have surgery on his shoulder injury next month and could be out for the rest of the season.
Last two seasons: 1999/2000: Shelbourne 1 Galway United 1, Galway United 0 Shelbourne 0, Shelbourne 1 Galway United 1. 2000/2001: Galway United 1 Shelbourne 1.
Current league form: Shelbourne: LWWWW; Galway United: DLDWW. Leading league scorers: Shelbourne: Foran 8; Galway United: Lavine 9. Referee: J Stacey (Athlone). Betting: Home: 1/2; draw: 9/4; away: 6/1.
New Year's Day
Bray Wanderers v Finn Harps (Carlisle Grounds, 3.0, re-fixed from last night.
Despite having John Walsh, Mick Doohan, Dave Campbell and Kieran O'Brien back in the squad following injury and suspension, manager Pat Devlin is unlikely to make any changes as Bray look to extend their unbeaten run to 11 games.
Harps are without Shane Bradley, Neil Fitzhenry, Richard McGinley and Niall Bonner, who are all suspended. Trevor Scanlon is thus likely to make only his second start of the season in defence.
Harps' appalling away form - with seven defeats and the irony of a win at Shelbourne their only victory in eight games - is the reason they find themselves trapped second from bottom. "We're difficult to beat at home, but dreadful away," admits manager Dykes.
Last two seasons: 1999/2000: Did not meet; 2000/2001: Finn Harps 1 Bray Wanderers 0.
Current league form: Bray Wanderers: WDDWD; Finn Harps: LDDLL. Leading league scorers: Bray Wanderers: Tresson 7; Finn Harps: Nesovic 6. Referee: H. Byrne (Dublin) Betting: Home: 8/13; draw: 9/4; away: 4/1.
