Leading scorer John O'Flynn could make a surprise return for Cork City as the champions resume their league action after a 17-day hiatus against St Patrick's Athletic at Turner's Cross tonight.

O'Flynn hasn't played in over two months due to a pelvic problem, but manager Damien Richardson said he trained this week and has a 50/50 chance of being involved tonight.

Also back for Cork is midfielder Joe Gamble, who missed the 1-1 draw with Derry City last time out due to suspension.

With nothing having happened in relation to transfer-listed midfielder George O'Callaghan as the deadlines passed last week, Richardson said yesterday that the door remains open for reconciliation.

"There have been no developments with George," said Richardson. "We tried to get him away on trial to a couple of clubs, but nothing materialised.

"We now have to take that to another stage as there are no other options with the transfer deadlines having passed.

"You could see him playing for Cork City again. But the ball is in his court. Everything depends on George."

Struggling St Patrick's, bitterly disappointing in losing to bottom of the table Waterford United on Friday night - their sixth defeat from their last 10 league games - wait on John Frost and Mark Rutherford.
