Basketball: This being the final weekend of regular Superleague action, and with five of the six play-off spots already decided, all that is up for grabs is whether Limerick can deny Neptune the final Southern Conference place.

After beating Cork rivals UCC Demons last Wednesday, Neptune have aspirations of finishing in second place and taking a home quarter-final, in turn consigning UCC to third.

If Neptune and UCC beat the Tralee Tigers and Shamrock Rovers respectively, it will finish as they are, regardless of Limerick's performance against St Vincent's.

Limerick are unlikely to progress, as they must go to Glasnevin and spoil the Northern Conference coronation. Neptune look more likely to turn the corner, as Mark Greene has returned from America and Tralee are without John Teahan (injured), while Kieran Donaghy and Michael Quirke are on football duty with the county panel.

In the Northern Conference, UCD need to overturn last week's disastrous defeat to Star of the Sea in Belfield to stand any chance of skipping over Killester and securing a home quarter-final. Killester play Ballina, whose play-off challenge collapsed last week.

The Mayo club can stand proud in their first season back in the top flight. The mid-season rut they found themselves in will teach them a valuable lesson.

The Women's Superleague quarter-finals also take place this weekend. Mercy Coolock, who are in third place, take on the Waterford Wildcats in Dublin, and sixth-placed St Paul's travel to Cork to face Glanmire. Killester and UL Aughinish wait the winners in the semi-final.

MEN'S SUPERLEAGUE: Saturday: UCD v Star of the Sea, Belfield, 7.30, Ballina v Killester, Ballina SC, 8.0, Killarney Lakers v Waterford, Presentation, 3.0.
