Leinster MFC Quarter-finals: Meath booked a Leinster minor semi-final place against Laois at the expense of Kildare, 0-11 to 0-9, at Newbridge on Saturday as Alan Nestor scored twice inside the first five minutes.
Stuart Murphy scored Kildare's opening point but they struggled to add to this as Meath led 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time. Meath set themselves up for the win in the early stages of the second half, Nestor again prominent as they built up a four-point lead.
Offaly ended Wicklow's campaign, 2-11 to 1-9, in Arklow on Saturday as Wicklow end with just 13 players and a report by a photographer that he had been assaulted by one of the home players.
Wicklow raced into a 1-3 to 0-1 lead after 10 minutes, with the goal scored by half-forward Darren Hayden. But that was as good as it got for Wicklow as Offaly's corner-forward Ken Casey sparked to life and scored 1-6.
Wicklow were caught napping for the Offaly goals, the first from Casey after 23 minutes and the second from half-forward James Gorman in injury time. Offaly led by 2-5 to 1-6 at the break.
Wicklow were reduced to 13 players after goalkeeper Damien Darcy was sent off on a second yellow, after conceding a penalty near the end which saved by Padraig Byrne.
Leinster champions Laois defeated Louth, 0-14 to 1-10, in Portlaoise on Saturday. At half -time they led 0-10 to 0-3, Kevin McArdle accounting for all of Louth's total while Eddie Kelly with three points, Donal Kingston and Diarmuid O'Flaherty accounted for the Laois total.
Early in the second half Louth's Kevin McArdle put the ball in the net from a penalty before Laois were reduced to 14 players and although Louth narrowed the margin to a point, a Kelly point ensured victory for Laois.
