Women's Football: A late point by All Star Mary Nevin salvaged a draw for John O'Leary's Dublin against Laois in their TG4 Leinster women's senior football championship clash at Stradbally yesterday, 1-10 to 1-10.
Mary Kirwan missed a Laois penalty in the closing stages of the first half as Dublin went in at the break with a 0-6 to 0-4 lead.
Nevin rattled the Laois net five minutes into the second half to put Dublin in the driving seat, 1-7 to 0-5. Laois refused to lie down and grafted their way back with Aisling Quigley's goal handing them the initiative.
They led by a point when Dublin's Louise Kelly had her penalty saved by Bernie Deegan, but with time running out Nevin slotted over the equaliser.
Last year's All-Ireland junior champions Kildare annihilated Longford by 8-26 to 0-4 in the second Leinster championship clash of the day which was played at Sarsfields.
There were two games in Ulster where an injury-time point fired Donegal to victory over Monaghan in a thrilling match at Irvinestown, 3-8 to 3-7, while Tyrone accounted for Down in Edendork by 2-10 to 0-12.
