Naas CBS - 10 Newpark CS - 0:SCHOOLS CUP: Debutants Naas CBS are in the Leinster Schools Section A Junior Cup final after a stirring win at Whitechurch yesterday.
On a murky afternoon, Naas showed no nerves in going on the attack immediately and they were rewarded for their quick start with a penalty try in the fifth minute.
Outhalf Michael Skelton spotted a space behind a flat defence, and when he sent in a grubber kick, he was impeded as he accelerated through a gap.
Referee Paul Haycock awarded a penalty try, which did not sit well with some Newpark supporters. Scrumhalf Colin O'Brien converted from under the posts.
In the 27th minute, O'Brien was called on again to hammer over a penalty for a 10-0 half-time lead.
It stayed that way despite the promptings of Newpark's second row pairing, Darragh O'Farrell and Ciaran Brennan.
