Peter Savill and David Nicholls will "wait and see" whether to appeal against the controversial decision of the stewards not to award Pepperdine the Coral Sprint Trophy at York on Saturday.
Pepperdine, ridden by Kieren Fallon, was carried across the course to the stands' rails inside the final furlong by winner Get Stuck In and was beaten a length into second place at the line.
At an inquiry the stewards concluded that interference had taken place as a result of careless riding by Carl Lowther (suspended for three days) but judged that it had not improved the winner's placing relative to Pepperdine.
Trainer Nicholls was initially furious at the outcome but said yesterday: "I am going to have a look at the film again and Peter is going to ring me tomorrow and we will see what we are going to do - but whatever happens I will always believe the stewards got it wrong."
Fallon was in no doubt that Pepperdine would have won, and reasoned: "If I had gone where I wanted without any problem I would have won by two lengths at least.
"You can't take a pull at that stage of a race. The other horse was hanging in on us all the time and then mine just gave up. That is why we were beaten a length. I am 100 per cent sure he will get it on appeal."
