Wales slumped to their second successive tour defeat in South Africa in a match which underlined their glaring inadequacies ahead of next week's Test against the Springboks.

Border scored two tries to one in their 24-8 victory, with New Zealand-born scrum-half John Bradbrook helping himself to four penalties and a conversion at the Basil Kenyan Stadium in East London.

But it was the circumstances of the defeat rather than merely the scoreline which will concern Wales's caretaker coach Dennis John.

The home side were meant to be the easiest opposition on the tour and they had just completed a domestic season which included huge defeats.
