Keith Nolan found the form he had been seeking for two days in yesterday's third round of the PGA Tour final qualifying school at Bear Lakes CC, Palm Beach.
He started off the day with back-to-back birdies and finished with a fine six-under-par 66, his nine-under-par 207 lifting him into a tie for 25th place, but still nine shots adrift of Pat Perez who fired a tournament-record 63, with three rounds remaining.
"I got off to a great start, birdied the first two holes and that kind of relaxed me a little bit," said Nolan. "I had changed my putter today so maybe that helped. I was two under at the turn and then made three birdies and an eagle on the back nine, so that was great.
"I got up and down from short of the green at 11, made the longest putt of the week at 12 from I guess 30 feet, and then hit a wedge to three feet at 15.
"Then, at the 17th, I chipped in from off the green for the eagle. It was kind of lucky but the pace was right and it never left the flag.
"There are still three rounds to go and there are a lot of great players out here, so I will just have to go out there and play well to stay in this position."
