Rowing: NUIG have lodged an appeal with the national executive of the Irish Amateur Rowing Union after a finding that one of the club's crews was ineligible to compete at the national championships earlier this year.
The NUIG intermediate eight were impressive winners at the championships, but after an objection the IARU executive asked for a report on the eligibility of the crew.
The finding was that a member of the crew was ineligible.
Tribesmen have decided not to go ahead with their time trial, which was set for tomorrow fortnight, opting to instead concentrate on their spring head of the river.
The club has recently suffered the loss of one of the hidden heroes of the sport in this country in Tom O'Shaughnessy.
The tall, shy, smiling man was instrumental in the Tribesmen head establishing itself as one of the key dates on the rowing calendar as he pioneered the use of computerised timing.
The Cork sculling ladder, sponsored by Diageo, will be held at the Marina in Cork this Sunday morning from 9 am to 1 pm.
Further afield, the World Rowing Coastal Challenge in Noli, Italy has Irish entrants from Killorglin and Bantry.
