Aidan O'Brien yesterday described the Coventry Stakes winner Statue Of Liberty as a "definite possible" for Sunday's Phoenix Stakes, writes Brian O'Connor

The Ballydoyle trainer is aiming for a fifth success in a row in Europe's first Group One of the season for juveniles which will be run at the Curragh for the first time.

"We will decide midweek from Statue Of Liberty, Marino Marini, Ontario and Hold That Tiger. They are all in there as possibles at the minute," O'Brien said.

Statue Of Libery heads the ante-post 2,003 Guineas market, along with the Railway winner Hold That Tiger and the $6.4 million Van Nistelrooy.

O'Brien's juvenile team are divided between Cork and Naas today and with Rock Of Gibralter's brother Great Pyramind going south, Michael Kinane's presence in Naas looks significant.

He is there for the Sadler's Wells colt Powerscourt who will face a decent test from Szabo, just three lengths off Van Nistelrooy in the Tyros, in the seven furlong maiden.

Kinane is reunited with Any News in the mile handicap and there should be a better showing by this one than when well beaten by Biondo at Galway six days ago.

Blatant was an expensive failure on his debut at Galway but ran green and was running on at the finish behind Ulysees. The experience should see the Oxx number one home in front in the mile maiden.

The day's feature is the Listed Platinum Stakes at Cork where Saranac Lake has her warm up for a return visit to Del Mar in Southern California later in the month.

The filly had a fruitless trip to Del Mar last month for an invitational Group One but her two-year-old form says we have yet to see the best of her this season. Dermot Weld's filly can start today.

Great Pyramid is impossible to oppose in the opener and Kilbride King can regain winning ways in the mile and a quarter handicap after running into Tivoli Garden last time.

The Plate winning rider Keith Hadnett can continue his hot-streak on the locally-trained Town Gossip in the handicap hurdle.
