LEINSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP/ ST MARY'S COLLEGE 35; SKERRIES COMMUNITY COLLEGE 6: St Mary's showed their class when they overran Skerries CC at Coolmine RFC yesterday. The Rathmines outfit scored six tries with winger Stephen O'Brien bagging a hat-trick.
St Mary's opened the scoring after only one minute when winger Kevin Quinn crossed for a try. Five minutes later, Skerries full back Seán Dempsey landed the first of his two penalties.
St Mary's grabbed their second try through David Flood, converted by Robert Gannon. Dempsey responded by posting his second penalty. Thereafter it was all St Mary's as Richard Sweeney dived over to score and shortly afterwards Flood grabbed a fourth try.
Ten minutes after the break Gannon landed a 25-metre penalty and O'Brien sealed victory with two more tries.
