RACING:AIDAN O'BRIEN'S Irish Derby winner Treasure Beach may have his next start in the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp. Seville, his stable companion who chased him home at the Curragh, is also a possible for the same Group One.
Treasure Beach won the Chester Vase in May, beating Nathaniel in the process, and was then caught on the line by Pour Moi in the Epsom Derby, before winning the Irish equivalent.
O’Brien’s wife, Anne-Marie, tweeted: “Treasure Beach could possibly go to the Grand Prix de Paris with Seville in Longchamp in two weeks time.”
Zoffany, the horse who has finished closer to Frankel than any other this season, suffered another narrow defeat in the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly on Sunday and could return to France for his next race.
“Zoffany ran very well when just touched off in the Prix Jean Prat. He is likely to go to the Maurice de Gheest in Deauville next,” she added.
Meanwhile, Delegator and Star Witness are the headline names among the 19 possibles for this Saturday’s Darley July Cup at Newmarket at the five-day stage.
Godolphin’s Delegator looked good when winning the Duke Of York earlier in the season but missed Ascot on account of the soft ground. Australian raider Star Witness, on the other hand, was second in the King’s Stand and third in the Golden Jubilee at the big meeting. Fellow overseas challengers include Amico Fritz and War Artist.
O’Brien has left in Zoffany, but given he is more likely to wait for the Prix Maurice de Gheest, that could leave Oracle as the sole Ballydoyle representative.
Roger Charlton has confirmed Bated Breath and Genki, while David Simcock has left in Dream Ahead. Regal Parade, Elzaam, Monsieur Chevalier and Winker Watson are also confirmed.
