Marina O'Brien (Cloghogue) will defend her Lynch and Manning Ltd All-Ireland Pitch and Putt Strokeplay Championship at Glenville (Tallaght) next weekend. O'Brien, who finished with a 14-under-par 148 at Ballinlough last year, tees off with Brid Ryan (Hillview). Peggy Campbell (Glenville), four-times Dublin Strokeplay champion, will be one of the fancied contenders on her home course. Campbell was second in Ballinlough last year - the third time she filled that position in a major.

Jean Cooney (Bellewstown), runner-up in this championship at Douglas in 1992 and at Tullamore in 1999, will be hoping to go one better this time out. Multiple Munster champion, Lakewood's Lily Carroll will travel with high hopes along with Meath's Catherine McCreevy (Navan) and Ann Daly (ESB). Another interesting two-ball is seven-times Matchplay Champion Geraldine Ward and twice major-winner Marian Byrne from the St Brigid's club.
