O'Brien raids York

Aidan O'Brien plans a substantial juvenile raid on next week's York meeting

Aidan O'Brien plans a substantial juvenile raid on next week's York meeting. The Ballydoyle trainer intends running the Leopardstown winner Family Crest in the Gimcrack Stakes and the Queen Mary Stakes sixth Heeremandi in the Lowther Stakes.

O'Brien will be represented by the Irish Derby winner Desert King in the Juddmonte International Stakes.

Meanwhile, bookmakers reacted to the victory of Princely Heir in yesterday's Heinz `57' Phoenix Stakes by cutting the price of O'Brien's talking horse King Of Kings.

Having previously been third to Lady Alexandra and a below-par King of Kings at the Curragh in June, he franked that form in no uncertain style here.

Coral cut King of Kings from 14 to 1 to 12 to 1 whilst William Hill went 10 to 1 from 12 to 1 with yesterday's winner on 33 to 1.

The Irish team lead their Australian counterparts by 21 points to 10 after the second leg of the jump jockeys series resulted in wins for Liam Cusack and Ken Whelan in Adelaide on Saturday. The team, which also includes David Casey and Brian Bowens, travel to Melbourne for the next leg on Wednesday.

The attendance at Yarmouth yesterday afternoon was 4,653, 300 down on the corresponding meeting last year.
