Limerick 0-12 Offaly 1-8:A late Eoghan O'Connor point secured a dramatic win in Tullamore yesterday.
O’Connor booted the ball over three minutes from time as a relieved Limerick did just enough to edge out a rejuvenated Offaly side who missed way too many chances for their own good.
Offaly had first use of the wind and a well-taken Brian Connor goal put them in control as they led by 1-6 to 0-7 at half-time.
In the second-half, however, Offaly could only add two futher points as Limerick became increasingly dominant, laying their foundations for the win at midfield.
The game stayed in the melting pot right until the final whistle with Seán Pender missing a late goal chance for the home side.
However, Limerick proved that football is all about taking your chances – they had just two wides compared to 10 for Offaly.
