GAA NEWS ROUND-UP:JACK O'CONNOR'S reappointment as Kerry football manager was ratified by last night's meeting of the county committee in Tralee, which agreed to a three-year term for the management team.

Outgoing selector Eamon Fitzmaurice has been replaced by another former player, three-time All Star goalkeeper Diarmuid Murphy and the long-serving Ger O’Keeffe was returned, as was physical trainer Alan O’Sullivan.

Joe O’Connor, who has worked with the Kerry hurlers for the past year, has been added as weights and conditioning coach.

The decision had been expected, as Jack O’Connor has been at the helm for three All-Ireland victories and, although this year’s exit to Down was the first time the county has lost an All-Ireland quarter-final, there is obvious confidence in O’Connor’s ability to embark on and complete a rebuilding programme.

Meanwhile, Wicklow County Board last night agreed to accede to the request of Mick O’Dwyer for another 10 days to make up his mind whether he is going to take the manager’s job for another year.
