Round-up: Brian O'Driscoll took a knock to an ankle during Ireland training at St Gerard's School, Bray, yesterday and was sidelined for most of the session as a precaution.
The ankle was bandaged and iced and O'Driscoll was able to return to the session just before it finished. His fitness will be monitored over the next 24 hours but the damage is thought to be minor.
Andrew Trimble took a full part in training and while his hamstring injury is not completely rehabilitated he should be available for selection when the 22-man squad for the game against South Africa on Saturday week is named at lunchtime today.
The Irish provinces return to Magners Celtic League fare this weekend and Connacht have announced their squad to play Glasgow Warriors at Hughenden on Friday (kick-off 7.30pm). The squad shows three changes to the side which lost to Bath on Saturday. Conor O'Loughlin has recovered from injury and is named in the squad for the first time this season in place of the injured Tom Tierney. Matt Mostyn and Mark McHugh, both of whom missed the game against Bath through injury, also return to the exclusion of Ted Robinson and Conor McPhillips.
Leinster, meanwhile, are waiting for news on their Australian scrumhalf Chris Whitaker, although he seems unlikely to play, while their secondrow Trevor Hogan picked up a calf injury in the warm-up for Sunday's defeat by Edinburgh and was forced to retire at half-time.
Coach Michael Cheika will be able to call on scrumhalf Matthew D'Arcy as back-up if Whitaker doesn't make it. D'Arcy is registered for the Celtic League but not for the Heineken European Cup.
Munster are likely to name Mick O'Driscoll as captain for Sunday's game against Llanelli. Regular captain Paul O'Connell is away with Ireland, as is Ronan O'Gara, while Anthony Foley is injured.
