UCC 0-9 NUI Galway 1-5:BARRY O'DRISCOLL'S brilliant injury-time point proved the match winner for UCC as they progressed past NUIG and into the quarter-finals at the Mardyke yesterday.
For the second week substitute O’Driscoll was the scoring hero, as his 63rd-minute point crowned the Cork side’s comeback from a half-time deficit. UCC led 0-3 to 0-0 after seven minutes but NUIG took over as Seán Armstrong hit points and in the 14th minute Cathal Kenny hit the net for NUIG.
NUIG led 1-4 to 0-4 at the break but UCC drew level. John Connellan pushed NUIG back in front before Daithí Casey and O’Driscoll struck for the UCC’s winning points. David O’Callaghan (UCC) and Cathal Kenny (NUIG) were dismissed late on for striking offences. UCC will face GMIT in two weeks’ time in the last eight.
