O'Dwyer dropped as Ryan returns

Karl O'Dwyer has lost his place in the Kildare team for Saturday's All-Ireland football qualifier against Kerry in Thurles

Karl O'Dwyer has lost his place in the Kildare team for Saturday's All-Ireland football qualifier against Kerry in Thurles. The experienced centre forward, son of manager Mick O'Dwyer, was substituted in the Leinster final defeat to Dublin. Ian O'Riordan reports.

Corner forward John Doyle switches positions to fill the gap. As a result, Patrick Murray is called into the starting line-up - at left corner forward. Murray replaced O'Dwyer against Dublin and scored a point.

There is one other change from the last day, with former captain Glenn Ryan taking over from Padraig Mullarkey at full back. Kerry are due to name their team today.

Meanwhile, Tipperary will wait until shortly before the throw-in before naming their team to play Mayo in Saturday's other fourth-round qualifier, in Ennis. Manager Tom McGlinchey has a number of injuries as Tipp prepare to line out for the third successive weekend.
