St Patrick's Athletic 0 Bohemians 1A last-minute goal by former St Patrick's player Aiden O'Keeffe earned Bohemians victory at Richmond Park last night. O'Keeffe nicked in to score in the final minute of normal time when he raced on to a long ball, ignoring the howls for offside, and chested the ball past Barry Ryan into the empty net.
It was sickening for the home side who had created the better chances but missed several gilt-edged opportunities.
St Patrick's went close in the third minute when Matt Gregg needed to smother an Ian Maher shot, and the goalkeeper was again relieved a minute later when the home side stuck the post. Stephen Brennan's cross was missed by new Norwegian signing Glen Larsen, but the ball evaded Gregg before rebounding to safety off the post. Bohemians then hit the woodwork in the 19th minute when Tony Grant's deflected shot stuck the crossbar.
The visitors were almost gifted a goal in the 41st minute when John Frost's attempted clearance struck a relieved Ryan on the chest rather than fly past him.
St Patrick's continued to have the better of things after the break, though Bohemians fought back late on with Kevin Hunt, Fergal Harkin and Kelly all narrowly missing with long-range efforts before O'Keeffe's late goal.
