National League: Facing bottom club Dublin City seeking a hat-trick of wins in the capital may instil added confidence in Cork City, but not if the ever-improving Vikings have any say in the matter, writes Paul Buttner
John Gill's effective 4-5-1 formation has utilised the pace and ball-holding abilities of lone striker Gary O'Neill and transformed the newcomers' reasonable form into good results with a win over Bohemians and last week's equally encouraging 0-0 draw with Shamrock Rovers.
O'Neill has this week given the club a further morale-boost by agreeing a new contract extension until the end of next season.
"It's a nice reward as the club didn't have to do it as I'm under contract anyway," said O'Neill. "That said, if I felt we were going to go down, I wouldn't have signed. But I believe that's not the case and once the extension was offered, I was only too happy to accept. I didn't really have to think about it."
O'Neill is set to again be the foil with which Dublin will try to break down Pat Dolan's reinvigorated Cork. Striker John O'Flynn (knee) remains out for Cork, as do Stephen O'Flynn and Neale Horgan, recovering from broken legs.
Dublin wait on striker Robbie Farrell and midfielder Don Tierney, who have had a virus this week, while David McGill, sent off against Rovers, is suspended.
Tonight: National League Premier Division - Dublin City v Cork City (7.45).
