Martin O'Neill's position as manager of Leicester City is in doubt following another day of turmoil in the club's boardroom.
Leicester's turbulent off-the-field problems took another dramatic twist yesterday when it was announced on the London Stock Exchange that club chairman John Elsom and plc chief Rodney Walker had resigned.
But within minutes Elsom issued a statement denying that either he or Walker had quit.
Then came another twist to a tale of intrigue and club politics when it came to light that the club's stockbrokers had cut their association with Leicester City.
The original statement to the stock exchange was issued by Leicester City plc spokesman Paul Barker via the promptings of the so-called "Gang of Four".
O'Neill would not comment in detail on the boardroom crisis other than to say: "It is a matter of grave concern."
But after last night's disappointing draw away to Crystal Palace in the League Cup, O'Neill said: "It's been a catastrophic day all round. The events today in the boardroom were astonishing. As for my future at Filbert Street, I will issue a statement on Thursday."
