O'Neill sees terrible truth

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has pledged to take the blame for the problems in his squad - even those not of his own making

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has pledged to take the blame for the problems in his squad - even those not of his own making. On Saturday Celtic lost 2-4 to Bordeaux with an error-riddled performance.

Olivier Tebily was to blame for the visitors' first goal and goalkeeper Stewart Kerr fumbled for the Bordeaux equaliser. The whole defence were missing for the third.

Positive signs were the return to fitness of Henrik Larsson, who scored, and the fact that the players seemed appalled by their errors. O'Neill said: "I was pleased at the players' determination and willingness to adapt to my own philosophy which means top-class talent working hard."

However, he added: "The fact we lost some poor goals is reminiscent of how the side have been for some time, but it's my team now and I have to rectify the problems which I hope to do as soon as possible."
