GOLF: Ireland's Denis O'Sullivan produced a scintillating finish to claim his fifth European Seniors Tour title at the Tunisian Seniors Open at El Kantaoui at the weekend.
The Corkman started his back nine two shots behind England's John Morgan but fired four birdies over a six-hole stretch to record a four-under-par 68 and finish two shots ahead of his English rival on 14-under-par 204.
Morgan posted a three-under-par 69 to finish alone in second place on 12-under-par 204, one shot ahead of Australia's Noel Ratcliffe, after a level par 72 gave him an 11 under par aggregate of 205.
O'Sullivan started the final round one shot behind Ratcliffe and he was two behind Morgan when he got just his second birdie of the day on the 407-yard par four 12th hole.
He then made a great save from off the green on the 167-yard par three 13th before firing consecutive birdies on the 14th and 15th to give him a share of the lead.
The shot of the tournament came when O'Sullivan hit a towering wedge shot 113 yards over a tree to within two feet of the hole at the 381-yard par four 17th.
The ensuing birdie gave the Irishman a one-shot advantage and he extended that to two when he two putted for par down the final hole and Morgan failed to get up and down from the greenside bunker.
"That was an incredible back nine," said O'Sullivan after collecting the £10,365 first prize.
