An outstanding display by Offaly centre back Niall Claffey inspired his side to a nine-point victory over Wexford in the other Leinster semi-final at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow.

The sides were tied at 0-6 each at half-time - all of Wexford's points having come from frees.

Wexford were reduced to 14 men when left corner back Robert Kirwan was red carded in the 40th minute for a reckless pull as Offaly's Ger Oakley made for goal. Oakley scored Offaly's opening goal in the 36th minute and corner forward Aidan Hanrahan made certain of victory with his side's second goal in the 53rd minute.
