Two long-serving members of Leinster and Irish swimming were asked to step down from their positions on the executive of the Leinster Branch during an executive meeting last Monday.

It was confirmed yesterday by Leinster Branch president Harry Kavanagh that Barbara Claxton and Penny Stratham were asked to resign their positions on the committee.

"It is accurate. That did happen. I will have to consult others before I say anything else on the matter," said Kavanagh.

Celia Milane, the Irish Amateur Swimming Association PRO, would not comment as it is a Leinster Branch issue, while Mary O'Malley, Leinster Branch secretary, was unavailable for comment.
