Tiger Woods's winning streak has come to an end after Australian Geoff Ogilvy kept his nerve to win the WGC-CA Championship at Doral in Miami.

Woods, who had won his last seven tournaments worldwide and had not been defeated since September, finished fifth, two shots off winner Ogilvy.

Ogilvy finished on 17-under-par - a shot ahead of South African Retief Goosen, American Jim Furyk and Fiji's Vijay Singh who were all tied for second place.

The remaining holes of the competition were finished today after weather disrupted yesterday's play.

Ogilvy parred the final nine holes, one of which was due to an unlikely chip-in par at the 13th, to eke out the one-stroke victory after being two strokes clear with nine holes left when the final round resumed.

Woods gave himself a glimmer of hope with three late birdie but in the end his putting let him down, for once.

"I made too many mistakes," said Woods afterwards.

England's Graeme Storm was never a serious factor, closing with eight pars and a bogey to shoot 71 and tie for sixth, four shots back.

Still, it was a good performance in just his second World Golf Championships event.

Ogilvy became just the third player to win more than one WGC event, joining Woods (15) and Darren Clarke (two).

It is his first victory since the 2006 United States Open, and sets him up nicely for next month's Masters.

He came to the dangerous par-four 18th with a one-stroke lead, and piped his drive down the middle of the fairway, before hitting his second shot to the heart of the green. He hit his first putt to within a foot of the hole and, after Singh's birdie chip missed, only had to tap in for victory.
